Student Health Center

The Student Health Center on our Oakland campus provides same- or next-day appointments for routine health needs and free, unlimited 24/7 care for urgent issues via video chat. In addition to our campus location, students can access One Medical offices nationwide, including locations in nearby Berkeley accessible by campus shuttle.

Oakland Department of Public Safety (DPS)

DPS has a fully staffed public safety office of trained professionals who are charged with keeping the campus safe. Dedicated officers monitor campus traffic, patrol the grounds, respond to emergencies, and secure campus buildings.

The Oakland campus is equipped with 24-hour emergency call boxes located in the following parking lots: Richards Road, Post Road, CPM, Orchard Meadow, Prospect Hill, and the Wetmore gate. See the emergency phone locations on the Oakland campus map (PDF).

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS will help guide you to the services that best meet your needs and encourage you to schedule an initial appointment with a CAPS therapist for assessment. CAPS is a confidential resource for NU students on the Oakland campus. This means that members of the CAPS staff are not required to report incidents to the OUEC. Other confidential resources can be found on the Support for Students page.

Office of Health and Wellness

The Office of Health and Wellness will help you live your best, healthiest life while you’re on the Oakland campus. Throughout the year, Northeastern staff partner with student organizations to host activities and workshops promoting healthy attitudes and choices.

Community Health Resource Center

The Community Health Resource Center is a student-run, on-campus space that provides confidential, safe access to information and resources for all genders.

SASS provides advising, advocacy, and all necessary accommodations to help students with various abilities thrive at Northeastern.

Residential Security Office

RSO assists residents and parents, maintains a special access list, pages residence life staff, notifies public safety of any security breaches or emergency issues, and monitors of all proctor stations.

Alameda County Crisis Support Services

  • If you or someone you know is struggling with difficult life circumstances or uncomfortable thoughts and emotions we are here to help. You do not need to be experiencing suicidal thoughts or feelings to call. Trained crisis intervention counselors are available to receive crisis calls and give supportive counseling 24 hours a day, every day. Translation is available in more than 140 languages. We also offer teletype (TDD) services for deaf and hearing-impaired individuals.

A Safe Place (Oakland)

  • The first rape crisis center in the country. It was founded with the two-part goal of establishing a place where survivors of sexual violence could receive the quality counseling and advocacy they need, and to provide community education around these issues.We are here to believe and validate the community we serve in a trauma-informed, culturally appropriate and accessible way

Alameda County Family Justice Center (ACFJC)

  • If you have reported the incident to the police, the ACFJC can help you understand your rights, provide assistance and advocacy, including access to financial support through the Victims of Crime program as well as counseling and support groups
